Earth Overshoot Day

Today is a sad day. Today – the 28th of July – is Earth Overshoot Day 2022. This means that for the rest of the year, the earth’s precious resources are depleted beyond the point where they can regenerate within that year. And every year since about the 70s we exhaust our planet’s resources a bit more each year, with potentially devastating implications for the next generations and our common future.

For Kieger, it is clear that executing our fiduciary duty means taking an inter-generational view in every investment decision we make. As the broader financial ecosystem is increasingly forced to recognize the complex two-way interactions between financial flows and real-world outcomes, a number of investor initiatives have emerged aiming to hold the financial community accountable.

We welcome this accountability and are proud to have signed up to the Net zero Asset Managers Initiative to provide even greater transparency on our efforts to help curb emissions and protect the planet for the next generations.
