Will healthcare once again come under pressure as we approach US presidential elections?
Let’s find out!
Hi, it’s Raphael from Kieger
Since mid-2023, we watch closely for any signs that healthcare would emerge as a central topic in the upcoming US elections. To our surprise, the discourse is unusually muted.
This observation is supported by our data as this chart shows. For it we went through all the quarterly conference calls of our healthcare universe and searched for the term “election”. Historically, there has been a noticeable uptick in such mentions as we approach the election. This time around, however, the frequency of these mentions remains remarkably low.
There are a number of possible explanations for this. First, the healthcare policies of both presidential candidates are well known, reducing the element of uncertainty. And second, healthcare is not high on Americans’ list of current concerns.
This is an evolving situation and we will keep a close eye on developments as they unfold. In the meantime, perhaps healthcare investors can get through this election season with a little more peace of mind than usual.
