For the past six months, US data has been telling us that demand for healthcare is high.

Is this true?
And what does this mean for the job market?

Hi, I’m Guy from Kieger

Non-farm payrolls have been front and centre over the last 18 months, and they are also relevant to healthcare investors.

As the chart shows, the share of new jobs which are in the healthcare industry has risen to thirty seven per cent; its highest level in over ten / years.

This means that for every 10 Americans who got a job over the last month, almost 4 of them started working in the healthcare industry.

So, what does this mean for investors?

The increased demand for healthcare is not a fad but reflects a fundamental fact:
the US population is ageing and has become more health-aware during the pandemic.

We thus expect to see continued tailwinds to healthcare equipment manufacturers and service providers in the US / in the coming months.
